JESSICA CURRAN, MA-LMFT, MedFT

INTRODUCTION

I am a highly dedicated and accomplished professional, proudly holding the title of Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT, Lic# MT 4931) with a specialized focus in the field of Medical Family Therapy (LMedFT). My educational background is underscored by a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University. In addition to this, I bring a wealth of knowledge from my Bachelor of Applied Technology in Health Services, obtained from the University of Texas RGV. My foundational education also includes an Associate degree in Radiologic Technology and Diagnostic Sonography, reflecting my commitment to a comprehensive understanding of health and well-being. These academic achievements collectively contribute to my biopsychosocial approach in providing therapeutic support to individuals and families as they navigate the complexities of their lives."

Personal Experience

My journey is marked by a rich tapestry of life experiences that deeply inform my approach to therapy. Nurtured in New Orleans, LA, I established roots in Tampa in 2019, following a childhood spent overseas and a period of professional exploration. This diverse background equips me with a profound understanding of the challenges individuals and families encounter, be it in parenting, relationships, navigating life's uncertainties, or pursuing personal growth.

My comfort and appreciation for working with individuals from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds have been honed through my professional and personal experiences. Beyond my role as a therapist, I am a full-time mom to an elementary school-aged daughter, actively engaged in our community. Together, we partake in outdoor activities that not only bring us joy but also foster connections within our community.

"Empowering Journeys: My Personal Commitment to Collaborative Therapy"

In my therapeutic practice, I prioritize a collaborative approach that places clients at the center of the therapeutic process. This method involves actively engaging clients as partners in their own journey toward healing and personal growth.

Client Empowerment: Central to the collaborative approach is the belief in the client's inherent resilience and capacity for positive change. I see my role as a facilitator, working alongside clients to identify their strengths, goals, and unique perspectives. By fostering a sense of agency and empowerment, I aim to co-create a therapeutic space where clients feel heard, understood, and actively involved in the decision-making process.

Shared Exploration: Collaboration extends to a shared exploration of thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I encourage an open and honest dialogue, where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves without fear of judgment. Together, we delve into the complexities of personal narratives, relationship dynamics, and the impact of life experiences. This joint exploration helps uncover patterns, identify challenges, and discover new possibilities for growth.

Tailored Interventions: Recognizing the uniqueness of each individual and family system, I take a flexible and personalized approach to therapy. Collaboratively, we design interventions and strategies that resonate with the client's goals and values. This may involve drawing from various therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral techniques, systemic interventions, and narrative approaches. The goal is to create a tailored therapeutic roadmap that aligns with the client's needs.

Feedback and Reflection: The collaborative process also involves ongoing feedback and reflection. I encourage clients to share their perspectives on the therapeutic journey, ensuring that the therapy remains a dynamic and responsive experience. This feedback loop allows for adjustments, refinements, and a continuous alignment with the client's evolving needs and aspirations.

Cultivating a Therapeutic Alliance: At the heart of the collaborative approach is the cultivation of a strong therapeutic alliance. I prioritize building a trusting and respectful relationship with clients, where they feel safe to explore vulnerabilities and navigate challenges. This alliance serves as the foundation for meaningful collaboration, creating a space where growth, insight, and positive change can flourish.

In essence, my collaborative approach to therapy is characterized by client empowerment, shared exploration, tailored interventions, continuous feedback, and the cultivation of a strong therapeutic alliance. Together, we embark on a journey of self-discovery and transformation, with clients actively contributing to and shaping their therapeutic experience.
